Day 45
As mentioned yesterday as we were only a few miles from Tombstone, we had to pass through it again to get to our first destination the Titan Missile museum which just rubbed in how close we were to where we started from yesterday and how we wasted so many hours travelling round in circles. Never mind it all gets remembered as one of those memorable experiences on this road trip. The Missile museum was great, not that Lorna and Sandra thought so, in fact they preferred to go to Safeway’s, yes Safeway’s to look around a food supermarket for 1.5 hours whilst me and Ken ventured down into the last and only remaining Titan II silo in the world. It was very interesting and we thoroughly enjoyed it, especially as there was no cackling for the women. So when we both emerged from the ground they were waiting and ready to have lunch. The trip to Safeway’s did however reap some rewards as they had provided lunch and as we were now going to head towards the Saguaro National Park, which has the most amount of cactus’s, we were quite pleased lunch was organised. We stopped in the picnic area and were immediately joined by all sorts of wildlife. It was nice and served a purpose, as Ken and Sandy really wanted a picture of themselves next to a large Cactus. After that as we had really burnt up the day, we needed to get checked into a hotel and fast, as I had quite a bit of work and internet stuff to do. So we found a local Hilton and settled in for the night. Its Ken and Sandra’s last night with us so we are going to have a nice meal with them and spend tomorrow maybe visiting the Biosphere if we have time.
